Several years ago, ten insightful fisherman, James Anderson, Mike Chambers, Arnett Gray, Dr. Andrew Newson, Eddie Powers, Anthony Shy, Calvin Thompson, Mark Williams, and Jerry Wingfield came together because of a very unique interest that they shared. They all had a passion for a sport that, at the time, did not seem to be to glamorous to most people.

Fortunately, these ten pioneers knew the potential of what the sport had to offer and were wise and unselfish enough to share their ideas. This passion that they shared was the sport of "Bass Fishing"

And, because of the thrills and challenges that the sport brought them, they decided it would be a good idea to form a club that was dedicated to teaching and introducing others to this fascinating, new discovery. The meeting was called to order in January of 1995, and held in Fairburn, Georgia, at the home of Andrew Nelson.

From there, the group went on to form a charter, which is now called, "The Metro Atlanta Hawg Hunters Bass Club." Since then, the group has grown close to fifty in membership. With a combination of experienced anglers and enthusiastic beginners, these uniquely diverse fishermen still share a common interest. It is the group philosophy to uphold and preserve this great sport by practicing conservation methods. We believe that it is our duty as anglers and pioneers to practice "Catch and Release," so the future bass anglers of the world may enjoy this great sport that we have all come to love.
